Inspiration for The Greatest Christmas Ever

To understand the inspiration, you must get to understand a little bit about the author. In 1991, Sergio Liden was homeless. He slept in gas station bathrooms, parks, and when it rained, he even broke into a building to stay dry. Life became great, not when he found a legal place to live, but when he found someone else that was in his situation, not leaving him feel so alone. Though the story is more relevant in today’s economic times, he actually wrote “The Greatest Christmas Ever” in December 2004, for his children, then 1 ½ and 2 months of age, to let them know the most important things in life are free. He reads the story to his family every year. Now that his kids are old enough to understand the story, they have come to understand that “they” are dad’s greatest Christmas present.
